You may have seen AIDS Care & Education director Heather Vaughan on the news a lot lately. It’s because LSS has exciting news to share–the opening of an HIV clinic onsite this spring!

The announcement was made in conjunction with World AIDS Day earlier this month. Jacksonville is third in Florida–and according to 2014 numbers, ninth in the nation–for new HIV diagnoses. In fact, 1 in 7 in our community who are HIV-positive are unaware of their status.

HIV can affect anyone. HIV does not care where you live, what color your skin is or how much money you make; as Vaughan says, HIV only cares that you are human. That’s why routine testing is so important. (You can find a list of testing sites here.)

To find out more about the new clinic and what it means for our community, please check out the links below to two of Vaughan’s recent interviews.
