We're now in the midst of the largest refugee crisis since World War II. About 50 percent Syria’s pre-war population of 23 million are either listed as refugees with the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees or displaced within the country and trying to get out now. Countries across the world are stepping up to help.

Hundreds of Refugees Celebrated in Hemming Park

Along with Catholic Charities, World Relief and the Florida Department of Children and Families’ Refugee Services Program, Lutheran Social Services hosted a celebratory event on June 19 to honor the thousands of local refugees who have restarted their lives in Jacksonville after being forced from their homelands.

Community Prepares for 25th Annual FOODFIGHT

Local restaurants, beverage distributors and caterers will come together on June 4 for the 25th annual Jacksonville FOODFIGHT – an event that provides attendees with the opportunity to sample specialty dishes and signature cocktails while raising funds to fight hunger and support struggling families through Lutheran Social Services of Northeast Florida (LSS) and the Nourishment Network.

ACE Client Justin Bell Shares His Incredible Story

Justin Bell never thought he would contract HIV. He and his partner were in a committed, monogamous relationship and consistently tested negative for the virus. But in 2007, Justin suffered a heart attack and slipped into a coma due to a strain of pneumonia often linked to HIV and AIDS.
