It’s easy to get in the holiday spirit here at LSS when we have so many dedicated donors and volunteers to help us make sure that our clients have something to celebrate this holiday season!
Christmas came early to our offices this year when the Jacksonville chapter of the Florida Diversity Council delivered gifts for refugee children! Our youngest refugee clients got to pick out an early present when they stopped by our offices this December.
Employees at Stein Mart got into the giving spirit this month when they held a food drive for our Backpack Program! The food that we will be able to give out because of their donations will ensure that students on free or reduced lunch don’t have to wonder where they will get their food for the weekend.
For families affected by HIV/AIDS, it can be hard enough to pay expensive medical bills, let alone give their children the Christmas they deserve. That’s why LSS’ RedTie Affair raises money for the Teddy Bear Touchdown, a Christmas party for children affected by HIV/AIDS. This year volunteers from Florida Blue helped us make Christmas special for the children attending Teddy Beach Touchdown by wrapping gifts!
Many refugees arrive in the U.S. with no more than they can carry, which means many children arrive with few, if any, toys. Thanks to Riverside Presbyterian Day School, they will be able to wake up on Christmas morning to some of the 200 toys that were donated by generous students and their families.
Thank you to everyone who has shared their blessings with those in need. Merry Christmas from all of us here at LSS!
