Every day at LSS, we are given the opportunity to see the best of our Jacksonville community. A recent display of our community’s generosity was the success of LSS’s community match campaign.
Richard Hood and Hugh Smyrl were so overwhelmed by the results of their last match campaign that they partnered with LSS once again to raise funds for newly arrived refugee families. Hugh and Richard challenged their community to support these newcomers. They donated another $4,000, this time to support refugee resettlement services. The only difference between this match campaign and the one they began in October 2024 was that it would only last two days.
While it was uncertain whether the goal could be matched as it had been in November–and in a much shorter time frame–Hugh, Richard, and all of LSS were gratified that the community exceeded the fundraising goal and the campaign match for Thanksgiving.
Hugh and Richard are full of appreciation and joy at the news of the campaign's overwhelming support. The LSS Food Pantry and Refugee Services are very close to their hearts, and they appreciate all who stepped up to join them in their show of support.
With each donation, LSS can help build up a community member in need. The way toward a more prosperous Jacksonville begins with helping those who struggle to have a safe and stable baseline. Your contributions allowed us to continue building a stronger Jacksonville.
We are incredibly thankful for all of the support shown by Hugh, Richard and the community’s response to their charitable endeavors so far. While donations are not doubled daily by generous donors like them, you can still make a difference in the lives of those who need it most.
