Introducing Our New HIV Services Director: Alane Ertel

We are proud to announce Alane Ertel, who brings a robust career in the public health field, as the HIV Services Director of the ACE program at Lutheran Social Services of Northeast Florida. Alane began her role as the director Monday, September 25th, 2023.


"I am looking forward to working with and being part of a team and a company dedicated to making positive impact in our community through compassion and purpose," Alane said. "I aim to continue this mission using the skills and knowledge I have gained throughout my career to strengthen the already robust ACE program."


Alane has held multiple positions at CAN Community Health is ready to lead our ACE program into a promising new era.

Setting a High Bar for Excellence

Before joining our team, Alane held the position of Operations Manager at CAN Community Health. Alane helped transformed its clinical workflows based on data analysis and patient feedback, earning the Rainbow Awards Best Local HIV/AIDS Clinic in 2023. The streamlined processes reduced 90% missed/late administrative tasks by 90% tasks. Furthermore, her initiatives reduced patient wait times by 20% and improved appointment availability, thereby enhancing access to care.


Alane has a history of mobilizing resources, which includes her securing $100,000 in grant funding to expand HIV testing and treatment services during her tenure at CAN. Additionally, her launch of the PrEP Champion program within CAN's North Florida clinics led to an impressive 86% increase in PrEP patients within just one year, showing her dedication to preventive care.


In her role as Program Team Lead of HIV Prevention & Education at CAN, Alane successfully implemented an STI testing program, which resulted resulting in a monthly increase in testing numbers. Her knack for securing grants was evident once again when she obtained a $25,000 grant from the National Library of Medicine.


Alane's skill set of data management, communication, project management, and customer service makes her a well-rounded leader who is ready to take our HIV Services to new heights.
