SHE, short for Social, Healing, Empowerment, is a support group for refugee women. The group’s mission is to empower women by connecting them with resources, education, and opportunities to meet other women in our community. The mission aims to build cross-cultural relationships as well as offer various educational workshops, field trips, and professional development opportunities.

"Social engagement is essential for our health and wellbeing. This is especially true for refugees that are new to our country." Amber Dodge, the Refugee Women's Coordinator at LSS said. "Within the S.H.E. women’s group, we create a space and opportunity for resettled refugee women and other women to meet with one another. Refugees have experienced a great deal of trauma with having to leave their country due to war and persecution, and the S.H.E women's group supports women and their families to thrive in their new country."

During the group meetings, women from the community volunteer their time to teach and guide the group participants in different activities such as embroidering, knitting, painting, baking, and more. These activities help the women engage with each other socially, while also providing them with professional development and conversation skills.
