Jacksonville, Florida - Lutheran Social Services of Northeast Florida (LSS) is offering a limited-time utility assistance benefit for Duval County residents enroll in its Steps 2 Success program (S2S) by November 30th, 2023. S2S is Jacksonville’s first financial opportunity center dedicated to ensuring financial wellbeing to its clients.
The temporary, limited-funded benefit, known as the Utilities Assistance Program (UAP), will help newly enrolled S2S clients by paying for a portion of their utilities. The goal of UAP is to alleviate some of the financial burden of essential living expenses so participants can use those funds instead to build up savings.
S2S participants can expect to receive utility assistance within six months. UAP will operate for as long as funds are available.
To qualify for UAP, applicants must apply to S2S by November 30th, 2023, and adhere to program conditions, such as meeting monthly with a financial coach and creating a monthly budget. UAP was made possible through the generous support of its sponsor, Wells Fargo.
Launched in 2017, S2S provides no-cost career and financial coaching to help individuals reach their financial goals. In 2023, S2S served 117 clients in Duval County. On average, participants increased their credit score by 75 points and increased their net income by at least $1,000 a month.
S2S is made possible through its partners: the City of Jacksonville, LISC Jacksonville, United Way of Northeast Florida and the Siemer Institute. S2S operates from both 4615 Philips Highway 32207 and their principal site at 1601 Kings Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32209. Learn more about Steps 2 Success here.
