Jacksonville, FL – As National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day approaches on April 2nd, Lutheran Social Services of Northeast Florida (LSS) and the Jacksonville Humane Society (JHS) are teaming up to tackle hunger in Northeast Florida with a PB&J Food Drive.
Starting on National PB&J Day, April 2nd through April 5th, the organizations aim to collect 500 jars of peanut butter and jelly. These donations will provide essential support to individuals accessing the LSS Food Pantry and the animals under the care of JHS.
“This collaboration between Lutheran Social Services and the Jacksonville Humane Society exemplifies the power of collective action,” said Bill Brim, President & CEO at Lutheran Social Services of Northeast Florida. “By working together, we can maximize our impact and provide vital support to both people and animals in need.”
“We are so appreciative of all the good work done by Lutheran Social Services in our community and grateful for their partnership in our free pet food bank, specifically,” said Denise Deisler, JHS CEO. “This PB&J drive is a fun way for our community to come together to support those in need - no matter their species!”
Drop-off locations for donations include the LSS office at 4615 Philips Highway and the JHS office at 8464 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32216, during regular business hours. For those unable to visit in person, contributions can also be made through the organizations' Amazon Wishlists.
This collaborative effort highlights the ongoing partnership between LSS and JHS, which saw the relocation of the JHS pet food bank to the LSS Food Pantry in December 2023. The relocation enabled both organizations to better serve the community by consolidating resources and expanding access to essential services.
