More support is coming to families in the Jacksonville community, thanks to the Feed the Future summer donation campaign that raised over $19,000 in June.

As of July 14th, the campaign hit $20,000, doubling the initial fundraising goal of $10,000.

In the words of our CEO, Bill Brim, "We are humbled and overjoyed by the outpouring of support we received throughout the Feed the Future fundraiser. The funds and resources collected will enable us to make an impact on the lives of those struggling with hunger. Together, we have shown that by working as a united community, we can overcome adversity and create positive change. Thank you for believing in our mission and for being the driving force behind our success."

What is Feed the Future?

The purpose of Feed the Future, organized by Lutheran Social Services of Northeast Florida, is to raise awareness on summer hunger for children by rallying supporters to contribute their time, money, and resources to the LSS Food Pantry.

Over the year, partly due to raising food and living costs, we saw a 45% increase in individuals accepting food from our pantry in May compared to May 2023.

The funds collected will now go towards ensuring that families and individuals in need have access to nutritious meals, offering them a glimmer of hope and brighter futures.

To conclude the grand finale of the Feed the Future fundraiser, Drag Performer Karrissa T Wade hosted a charity bingo event at Tulua Bistro in Jacksonville Beach on June 29th.

The night was filled with laughter and the shared joy of contributing to a worthy cause. Not only did the charity bingo event bring in additional monetary donations, but it also collected 175 pounds of food items that went to feed families served at the LSS Food Pantry.

While we still see growing need for food at our pantry alone, we're inspired and thankful to those who contributed to the campaign.
