WATCH: LSS staff discuss support services for the Haitian community in Jacksonville on WJCT's First Coast Connect

Lutheran Social Services (LSS) staff, including Beatriz Alonso Gonzalez, the agency's Cuban and Haitian Entrant Coordinator, joined Anne Schindler, host of First Coast Connect, on Wednesday, March 26th, to discuss the vital services available to Haitian communities in Jacksonville.

Amidst a humanitarian crisis in Haiti, where gangs have taken control of the country's capital, LSS remains steadfast in its commitment to assisting Haitian entrants. With years of experience in aiding Haitian communities, LSS launched a new program in November 2023, providing additional resources to support the Haitian community in Jacksonville. The program is called the Cuban and Haitian Entrant Program

Pierre Paul, a member of the Haitian committee in Jacksonville, also contributed to the discussion.

Anne Schindler, who joined WJCT News as host of First Coast Connect in October 2023, after nearly three decades in Jacksonville print and television, facilitated the insightful conversation.
